Port Arthur is one of the most famous sites in Tasmania.
Here you can experience Australia's convict history in a very well presented setting. Not a light hearted visit but well worth the detour.
It can be visited as a day trip from Hobart (about 1 hours drive) or you can stay on the Tasman Peninsula a bit longer and explore all the natural beauty it has to offer.
